Student Sends Legal Notice to Amaran Team Over Alleged Concern in Sivakarthikeyan’s Film

Date:

A legal notice has been sent to the makers of the Tamil film Amaran, which stars Sivakarthikeyan, after a student from Chennai, Vaageesan V.V., was inundated with calls due to a phone number shown in the movie. The number, featured on a crumpled paper in one of the film’s scenes, closely resembled Vaageesan’s actual phone number. As a result, he began receiving numerous calls, with many people mistakenly thinking they could reach actress Sai Pallavi, who is part of the film. Since the release of Amaran on Deepavali, Vaageesan has received over 100 missed calls, leading to significant distress.

Vaageesan attempted to reach out to the film’s director and lead actor to resolve the issue but has reportedly received no response. The situation worsened when his phone number began circulating on social media platforms, further escalating the problem. Despite his efforts to address the issue, his service provider, Airtel, could not block these calls as they were not classified as marketing calls.

This situation highlights the potential consequences of using real phone numbers in films, particularly when they belong to unsuspecting individuals, raising questions about privacy and responsibility in media production

Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran lands in legal issue as student demands compensation of crores

The legal notice sent to the makers of the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer film, “Amaran,” pertains to a claim made by a student. This legal action involves a demand for acknowledgment or compensation, based on certain alleged similarities between elements of the film and the student’s original work or idea.

Details are not fully disclosed yet, but such legal notices usually indicate concerns about copyright infringement or unauthorized use of intellectual property. If the student believes their creative or intellectual output has been replicated or featured in “Amaran” without proper credit or permission, they might seek legal remedy to protect their rights.

This situation highlights ongoing issues within the entertainment industry related to originality, plagiarism, and intellectual property rights, particularly when films draw from real-life or personal stories without proper recognition.

The film Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan, has been a massive success at the box office, having earned approximately ₹250 crore in its first two weeks. Following this overwhelming success, there has been a notable demand to delay its digital release. The Tamil Nadu Film Exhibitors Association has requested that the film’s OTT release be postponed for at least eight weeks to maintain its strong run in cinemas and maximize its box office potential. They argue that this would not only benefit the movie but also set a positive precedent for the industry by prioritizing theatrical success over early digital distribution

producers of the film, however, are facing pressure from other sides as well. For example, a legal notice was sent by a student over concerns regarding an alleged omission or misrepresentation in the film’s content, which added another layer of complexity to the film’s distribution discussions
